Beef & Prune Tangine & Strawberry & Coconut Cake

If I haven’t said it before I will say it now, this Modern Classics book is a must for all everyday type cooks like me.  It can make you look really good, trust me.  This beef recipe is very simple, economical (because you are using a cheaper cut of meat) and extremely tasty.

Steaks with Whisky Cream Sauce & Rockmelon Ice-cream

This brings back memories of actual dinner parties in the 70’s and early 80’s when we thought we were just so very modern and on trend. I decided I wanted to go back in time and try some of the old dinner party recipes from Women’s Weekly.

Beef Bourguignon Pies & Balsamic Strawberries

This Bourguignon would be great made up and frozen as the flavours would settle into the meat even more and it is just a wonderful meal to have on hand.  So very easy with the ready-made pastry and frozen chips as recommended in the recipe.

Thai Beef Salad and Lime & Raspberry Tart

This menu was a great summer night menu.  I have made various Thai Beef salads over the years but this one just hit the spot.  I did, as suggested and added and subtracted.  I added blanched asparagus, mango, avocado and beautiful little tomatoes.

Beef steak with scent of Chianti rub & Tiramisu

The rub is easy to make up and keeps in the fridge for up to four days so anything left over can be used at a later date.  This was nice but you know what at the end of the day a steak is a steak is a steak!!
